Head of Communications

Closing date: 2 February 2016

Reporting to the Commercial Director and forming part of the Senior Management Committee, this person will be responsible to implement the corporate communications strategy and strengthen all external and internal communications. The person will also be responsible to define our internal and external communication plans, including all online communications, and to manage relationships with all our stakeholders and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the corporate communications strategy
  • Define and develop annual communication plans of the company
  • Implement and strengthen internal and external communication initiatives
  • Manage the dialogue with all stakeholders of the company, all employees and the members of the Senior Management Committee
  • Act as spokesperson and representative of the company
  • Coordinate all media relations
  • Prepare and coordinate all corporate communications material
  • Manage all online communications, both external and internal
  • Organise and coordinate and events

Profile 

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in communications in a senior role and have preferably developed his or her experience for several years either in a similar role with one or more leading companies, or a consultancy role in communications with a large portfolio of clients.

  • University Degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
  • Fluent in spoken and written Maltese and English is a must; Knowledge of Italian or Spanish will be an added benefit
  • Excellent relations and communication skills, high level of dialogue, understanding and relationship with the media, flexible, versatile, creative and oriented to external and internal customers
  • Excellent writing, coordination and organization skills
  • User knowledge of online tools and 2.0 platforms

 

Head of IT

Closing date: 2 February 2016

Reporting to the General Manager and forming part of the Senior Management Committee, this person will assume the overall responsibility for all our IT and security related aspects including the development and management of our IT strategy.

This is a very exciting position for an IT professional to work within a Group of companies to develop and implement innovative IT solutions that will improve the overall experience for our bus users.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and implementing intelligent solutions to improve customer experience, simplify processes, strengthen controls, and maximize competitiveness and growth
  • Improving the overall delivery and clarity of information available to the employees and to the public in general
  • Managing the implementation of various IT related projects 
  • Assessing and evaluating new technologies and solutions which can sustain and improve the company’s strategies
  • Preparing and implementing annual departmental budget and capital requirements in line with company and group expectations

Requirements

  • Candidates should have proven experience in IT in a senior role and preferably in a strategic role within a medium to large organisation
  • Relevant Degree or Post-Graduate qualification
  • Fluent in English; Knowledge of Italian or Spanish will be an added benefit
  • Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills
  • Good writing, coordination and organization skills
  • Organisational and project management skills with the ability to be flexible and creative

 

Control Room Manager

Reporting to our Operations Director, the Control Room Manger will manage and support a team of controllers who are responsible to monitor the reliability and punctuality of our bus service and to ensure that service level requirements are maintained consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that service level requirements are maintained
  • Use reporting to manage and monitor performance of routes
  • Document and verify the proper function of services, within parameters established to attest efficiency
  • Supervise and support a team of Controllers to ensure the correct functioning of the department
  • Ensure proper function of the tracking system and other tools implemented in the Control Room
  • Prepare accurate reports as required by the Operations Director, with utmost confidentiality
  • Assist the Operations Director in the daily operational requirements

Requirements

  • Possess an Advanced or Diploma level of education
  • Have a minimum 1 year experience in Fleet Management, preferably in Passenger Transport
  • Be able to work under pressure and motivate a team of people
  • Be highly organised, pro-active, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Have good analytical skills, capable to propose changes and resolving problems
  • Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good command of the English and Maltese languages, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Italian or Spanish will be an added benefit.
  • Be a proficient user of MS Office applications

 

Customer Experience Manager

The Customer Experience Manager will successfully drive forward the Company’s customer-focused strategy and increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. The Customer Experience Manager will be responsible for all customer relations including the call centre, email and social media management and the card production centre.

Responsibilities

  • Improve customer experience and engagement with the brand
  • Take ownership of customer issues and follow up problems through to resolution
  • Develop standard operating procedures and ensure consistent implementation throughout the department
  • Analyse data collected from the customer management systems and compile actionable management reports
  • Recruit and train customer service agents and ensure that these are kept up–to-date with the Company’s products and services and with latest customer management practices
  • Help in the development of the budget of the Customer Care function and ensure all goals are met
  • Maintain an excellent relationship with third-party service providers
  • Responsible for the card production and management section

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree
  • Proven work experience as a Customer Care Manager or other relevant customer experience management role for a minimum of 5 years
  • Experience in providing customer service support
  • Experience in managing a sizeable team of customer service agents
  • Excellent command of the English and Maltese languages, both written and spoken
  • Working knowledge of customer service systems will be considered an asset
  • Ability to think strategically and to lead
  • Very strong customer-facing and communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
  • Energetic, enthusiatic and an ability to transmit these values to the rest of the team

 

Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s marketing strategy as well as to coordinate all public relations activities of the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of publicity campaigns
  • Plan and execute any advertising campaigns
  • Manage the relationship with the marketing and website agencies
  • Communicate and develop relationships with the general public, the press and other organisations
  • Organise promotional events including press conferences, open days and exhibitions
  • Organise market research activities and present findings
  • Design and produce presentations, articles, brochures and websites including the drafting of the required copy
  • Manage the social media of the Company from a marketing and promotion point of view

Requirements

  • Marketing, communications or journalism degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent command of the English and Maltese languages, both written and spoken
  • Outgoing personality

 

Customer Support Representatives

Malta Public Transport is responsible to operate the national bus service covering over 25 million kilometres annually with a fleet of 300 buses which is set to increase this year. The Company employs over 1,000 people and is currently in the process of implementing a number of measures aimed at improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the bus service.

The Company is seeking to recruit mature, reliable and energetic Customer Support Representatives to proactively handle and Offer satisfactory solutions to any customer enquiry.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Be organised and able to communicate effectively
  • Be a team player and respectful of other work colleagues
  • Have the ability to work within a team and meet targets
  • Have a positive energetic attitude
  • Be friendly, polite and have the ability to diffuse confrontation
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
  • Have at least a secondary level of education
  • Be proficient (verbal & written) in at least Maltese and English

Engineering

Malta Public Transport is responsible to operate the national bus service covering over 25 million kilometres annually with a fleet of 300 buses which is set to increase this year. The Company employs over 1,000 people and is currently in the process of implementing a number of measures aimed at improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the bus service.

The Company is seeking to recruit mature, reliable and energetic individuals for the following positions in the Engineering Workshop:

 

  • Mechanics
  • Semi Skilled Mechanics
  • Junior Mechanics
  • Electricians
  • Panel Beaters

The ideal candidates will:

  • Have the ability to detect, analyse and diagnose breakdowns and repairs
  • Be organised and able to communicate effectively
  • Be a team player and respect other work colleagues
  • Have the ability to work within a team and meet targets
  • Have a positive energetic attitude
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
  • Have at least a MQF level of education and/or 2 years experience
  • Be proficient (verbal & written) in at least Maltese and English

Previous work experience or knowledge in the maintenance and repair of industrial vehicles will be considered an asset.

 

Bus Drivers

Malta Public Transport is in the process of implementing a new network with the aim of improving its service to the public. In order to achieve this, the company is looking to recruit Bus Drivers.

In order to work as a bus driver, you would need:

  • A Category B Licence for at least one year (training will be given to obtain D licence)
  • Category D Licence is an asset (training will be provided if necessary)
  • Basic spoken English
  • To be over 21 years of age
  • To submit a police conduct and pass a medical examination and driving assessment

Terms and Conditions:

  • An indefinite contract with 6 months' probation
  • A salary of up to €6.00 per hour
  • Possibility of overtime at a higher rate
  • Night shift allowances
  • Annual leave, sick leave and other special leave entitlements
  • Health Insurance
  • Free use of the public transport system for spouse and child/children
  • Employment is based on a 5/6 day rotating shift work

Besides being greeted at the airport, there will be transport provided on the first day of work, as well as assistance with all logistics in relation to obtaining required documents for Maltese tax system, residence permit scheme, social security and any other related requirements.
